Afroditi Loukakou graduated from Harokopio University of Athens - Department of Nutrition and Dietetics.
She has worked at the following hospitals: Tzanio, Sismanoglio, General Hospital of Athens “G. Gennimatas”, Red Cross as a trainee in nutritional management of several diseases, such as diabetes, cardiovascular, nephrological, gastroenterological and in specialized dietary needs taken place in Intensive care Unit.
She is a licensed Dietitian – Nutritionist, who has established the “Scientific Centre of Dietetics and Nutrition” since 2006 in Kalamata. She has also worked as a Tutor at her department at the public vocational training Institute (IEK) of Kalamata and at the training programme of OAED (Organisation for the Employment of the Workforce). Until today, she imparts her professional knowledge to the students of IEK ORIZON.
In 2021, Afroditi became specialized in Applications of Genetics in Precision Nutrition from National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. In her office, genetic testing for personalized nutrition is provided, based on the gene analysis of each patient.
ΣWorking voluntarily with schools and athletic associations is her aim to train and inform children and teenagers about nutririon. She offers her services at Papadopoulio Childcare Facility as a head dietitian, creating eating plans for the children. Throughout her career, she has offered her services at the nursing home and Family supporting Programme. Additionally, she was head dietitian of Messenia, Arkadia, and Laconia at the programme ‘The Importance of a Healthy Diet” taken place under the support of the Board of Education in elementary schools across these prefectures.
She’s an active member of the “Hellenic Association of Dietitians Nutritionists”. She has served as:
- A Member of the Organising Committee of the 12th Hellenic Nutrition and Dietetics Conference.
- A member of the Group that specializes in weight management
She’s a lecturer at seminars and conferences. Her passion for constant further training in her field, has led her to attend numerous seminars, workshops and conferences both in Greece and abroad.
She’s an active writer and has contributed to the publication of several articles in magazines, newspapers and international blogs, focusing on Nutrition Issues.
